{Texture Tuesday} The Look-Down eDition & a Give Away.

on the front porch....textured with dream-it.... mouse over to see the original

Hello friends,

Welcome to Texture Tuesday. I'm so glad you are here.

This Week's TT Challenge details

In honour of Shutter Sister's month long celebration of Elevate the Everyday (more HERE) I thought it would be fun to match today's Elevate prompt which is.....Looking Down....

In celebration of Tracey's beautiful new book.... I'd love to send one lucky TT'er a copy of Elevate the Everyday. To enter, join today's TT link-up and leave a comment below stating one of your favorite everyday, ordinary moments..... I will announce the winner on Sunday. The contest will close on Saturday at midnight.

So for this week, your image must center around 'look down' and contain at least one layer of any of my textures. And why not pop over to Shutter Sisters and link-up there as well.

::

I have a new texture for you today. I call this one dream-it.

Click HERE to download dream-it. Want free textures? Be sure to join the Texture Lovin' List HERE.

For my image up top I simply opened it in PS and added a layer of dream-it at soft light 80% opacity...then applied a fairly high gaussian blur filter.... which basically allowed me to borrow the tones rather than the texture.

Before we start linking up.... let's talk next week's TT theme.....

Tuesday, August 21st Texture Tuesday Guidelines are:

Your image must contain at least one layer of today's texture, Dream It. That's it...that's all.

New to Texture Tuesdays? Here's the short and sweet TT rules.

  • please link directly to your TT post, not to your main blog url or flickr stream. Please do not link to your online shop.
  • please link back to the Café. You can grab the TT button HERE, if you wish.
  • please visit the other TT participants and leave them some comment love. Remember it's a party.... and what's a linky party without lots of comment love? Right!

Want more details? Click HERE for the full scoop!

.....

Okie doke... time to get started..... Have fun....and as always .... BIG GRATITUDE to each of you that play along.

xo,

p.s. i had the honour to share an interview with Lesley Riley of Art & Soul Radio....If you'd like to have a listen, click here. :)

One more look down.... same recipe as the up-top image.

Seriously? My everyday moment that means something to me is so silly. But I'm going to share it anyway. It's that moment when my crushed ice drops into my cup at Circle K, and the sound of the Coca Cola filling said cup. I love pushing my straw down through the lid, and taking that first delicious sip of liquid candy first thing in the morning. I love to drink my soda. There are worse vices out there... this one makes me gain weight, but I can't tell you how many times a nice, cold cup of Coca Cola has given me comfort when I had no where else to get it from. An old friend. Pretty sad, I know... but I still love it. No matter what anyone else says! :)

One of my favourite everyday moments is breakfast. I love to sit around in my pyjamas, eating my bread and peanut butter and jam! And I love my morning coffee!

Coffee and breakfast every morning with my hubby. He is on travel now for two weeks and this is the time I miss him most - it just isn't the same alone!

My most favorite part of the day is when my husband comes home from work and we enjoy the morning sitting outside on that wonderful bench he built for me watching the birds and talking. Just the two of us.

My absolute favorite moment of the day is when my daughter wakes up & I kiss her forehead. She's 11 but I find it's the only moment of everyday that she still smells like a bundled up baby. -sigh-

Favourite moment is a cup of coffee next to my computer and logging on , music playing and creating....

My favorite moment of the day is when I get home from work and sit on the porch with my husband to catch up on our day.

I think there is nothing better than that first cup of coffee.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNadege
Your photos are lovely, Kim - I love the blurred effect. I'm with many others in that one of my favorite moments of the day is my morning coffee. It's a new day, I get some blog/computer time, and my sweet pup lays beside me to keep me company. It's such a feeling of comfort and "home".

Your front porch looks so inviting . . . I'd love to join you there with a mug of tea.

Beautiful images as always kim!
one of my favourite everyday moments is opening up the kitchen blinds, sitting with my morning tea and watching the birds arrive at the feeder ♥

Beautiful photo Kim-like many others, I would love to come up and sit a spell-
I think one of my most favorite moments comes at the end of the day when I am winding down and I listen to my dog sleeping. It is both comforting and makes me feel connected.

I love your textures!!

My favorite everyday moment is lacing up my shoes and hitting the pavement for my daily walk. It's dark out - no one knows if I've combed my hair (I have NOT). It's just me and my I-Pod!

Every morning I spend some time in a special corner of what I call "my reading room." Here is where I pray and read meditation.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterpatricia
My favorite everyday ordinary moment is my husband fixing my coffee just the way I like it and bringing it to me on the days I have to go into work. I feel blessed by all the ways he shows me love.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJaneen
One of my favorite moments of the day is when I wake up and find my "Lil Dude" looking up at me, then rolling over on his back , all 4 legs stretched out straight as a board, for his morning pet.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBetty
A favorite everyday moment is when I have hustled and bustled all the kids and the hubby off in the morning and that delightful sound of silence descends upon my morning...
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterColleen G
There are so many favorite everyday moments! Each small event, each hour, each little happening - these are what builds a life - how can I pick just one that reflects the monumental task of enjoying each day? I pick...the moment I am in! First thing - waking up and finding hubby to say "good morning", heading down the steps to make the coffee - checking to make his favorite cup is clean..., chit chat about nothing before he leaves for work and him checking for hummingbirds at the feeder, cleaning the dishes, sweet tweener waking up to start her next day of summer (bed head and all - and yes, smelling all sweet and cuddly like a newborn), reading emails, taking the little white dog for a walk and finding all the bunnies still out eating greens... and that takes us to about 9 a.m.! Knowing that I have air conditioning to face the rest of the day with...how Pierre the white cat looks just being lazy on the porch glider, the toads hopping around as I water the flower bed by the garage...reading morning devotions delivered to my inbox, finding the next {Kim Klassen} or {Beyond Layers} email in my inbox...

Ahhhh, all is grace and bliss....(and then it is time to plan the evening meal - cooking is not a favorite!)

When life is so full and I want to stop - it is lovely to come by and join you Kim and the other wonderful contributors. Thank you for the inspiration. As Paul SImon says - these are the days of miracle and wonder.

My favorite everyday moment is breathing the early morning air, such beautiful smells. It humbles me every single day.

My favorite "every day" moment: my morning coffee. Cliché? Yes, but sooo the best moment of the day!
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMaria Pons
My personal favourite is early, early in the morning (4:30 am-ish) when my husband is about to leave for work and he comes & kisses me goodbye and tucks our Lab, Indy into bed with me. It's our morning ritual and I treasure it. We;re celebrating 22 years of being HAPPILY married in October.

My favorite time of day is as I walk into my house AFTER my morning walk. Not an exercise-lover, here, I savor the feeling of accomplishment once done. I started walking just to "elevate" my body from sitting for hours doing my post processing passion. I read, "Sitting is the new smoking" (smile) and realized that is true. That walk gives me freedom to sit without guilt.

Checking on my plants and flowers in the morning is gratifying. Whether I'm removing dead leaves or blooms from my hanging baskets of geraniums, being rewarded with purple morning glory blossoms on the trailing vines, walking around and visiting my grape vines, roses, zinnias or even removing the occasional weed or blade of grass...it is all part of the landscape of my time in the yard with solitude as my muse.

One of my favorite moments of every day is enjoying the personality of my little yorkie, Lucy. She is the subject of today's submission and a joy to our lives!

My favourite every day moment is having my coffee - I can't do another thing without it!

We live on a farm, and every day here is filled with special moments. One of the most memorable, though, is watching the deer browsing through the meadow behind the house. It's a daily occurrence. Just a couple of weeks ago they were joined by a rabbit; the bunny ran around in little circles, apparently attempting to play with the fawns, who were too busy filling their tummies with sweet grasses. A precious time, as are they all...

Thank you for the lovely texture as always. You are much appreciated by this budding photographer.

Starting my day with a cup of coffee and my journal in bed, allows me to ease into the day, while recording my nightly insights. This ritual is a gift, and has changed my life.

Once the school year starts, I plan on delving in a bit more with textures and Photoshop! Thanks for this challenge.

Ahhhh...my favorite everyday moment is my cup of tea. Just a few minutes of alone in the quiet house, savoring the flavor and waking up. The only thing better would be my tea on the beach!

My favorite everyday, ordinary moment is when I get up around 5am to go for a early morning run and the stars and moon are still out. It's peacefully quiet before everyone else wakes to start their day. On occasion, I'll see bunnies, deer and other animals beginning to stir as well.

Doing what I am doing right now....enjoying my lunch salad with my I-Pad to catch up on my e-mail and the blogs I follow....such inspiration for the rest of the day!!!!

One of my very favorite moments? Watching my children, in whatever they do...
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPuna
One of my most favorite ordinary moments was yesterday...the first day of school. My 8th graders come in looking a bit apprehensive and excited, and they leave in May feeling they own the school!

Favorite moments: finding my husband made coffee for me before he left for work
and
getting a phone call or text from my 3-time-zones away daughter.

My favorite ordinary moment is just going outside as soon as it's light enough and taking pictures, it's always so peaceful with just me and my dog roaming around.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLori_Z
Seems a morning cup of coffee is the dominant ordinary moment and I do enjoy mine before I take my morning walk down to the dock to see what new photos of birds, boats and the water that I can shoot on my iPhone.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLynne
My favourite ordinary moment...is waking each morning with a whole lot of gratitude. Conciously saying Thank you...To wake from a blissful and warm sleep, the comfort of my bed, to open the curtains and see the start of a new fresh day, and stop and breathe...a gratitude smile to start the day, These couple of seconds make all the difference for any challenges that the day may bring. Yx

I always felt nurtured and at home when my Mother would water the yard and flowers holding the hose, moving slowly to each plant or flower bed.....It is what I cherish to do now....it takes your mind away from everything and you concentrate on where the water is needed and maybe do a little dead heading at the same time, sprinkling the seeds back to the dirt in the flowerbeds. If it is hot I just water my feet in my rubber Crocs to cool off and keep going. I see so many tiny things while watering, plus the birds come for a drink or bath in the garden.
August 14, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSherry Peck
Oh there are so many wonderful ordinary moments each day... I think my favorite of all of these moments is taking the very first sip of my first cup of coffee each day. Not only is this moment a feast for my senses it is also one of the few quiet solitary moments I have in my day. Love it!

Peace!

Crawling under freshly laundered white cotton sheets with eyelet trim and laying my head on a cool pillow at the end of a full day. I only buy white or cream sheets and pillowcases...they just shoult of clean pure joy and seem so old fashioned. I must say on that cool pillow are hand embroidered pillowcases, made by mother. She made a handmade pair for me every year and gave them at Christmas. I miss her...this keeps her close.

The morning fog creeps out slowly and the warmth of the promising sun seeps in. I open the french doors to the garden and am greeted with the cheerful songs of my visiting birds: Red-wing Blackbird, Goldfinch, House Sparrow. My winged friends remind me to greet the day with a grateful song.

favourite moments have to be... after work walks with my pups and like a lot of others here, that morning cup of joe.
thanks for all the textures and your art is spectacular - love every one.

My favorite moments are spent in the evening when my daughter Lauren is on her drive home from work. I am so blessed to have a wonderful relationship with her and every evening when my cell phone rings at 9:06 I answer with "Hey baby girl, tell me about your day". She was married on May 11th and the 33 minutes we spend on her drive home are by her choice, not mine. My own mother guilts me into my evening call but my DD's call is her gift to me and I don't take even one moment of it for granted. BTW...this is my FIRST Texture Tuesday! In September I'm leaving with Kim et al for a "Round Trip". Can't wait to learn from such an incredibly gifted woman!

Some of the most wonderful everyday moments in my life happen while sitting on my tiny porch with two furry four-leggeds and a good old thunderstorm!

This is my first Texture Tuesday! Thanks for the inspiration and wonder-full textures.
