{Texture Tuesday} Let's Celebrate

mouse over to see the before

It's time for another Texture Tuesday!

Our theme is Celebrate

....

Here are this week's TT challenge details.

  • Your image must contain at least one layer of any of my textures and be centered around the word celebrate.

That's it...that's all.

I edited my photos in RadLab and then applied a layer of 'Phoebe'...and some text. I set the blend mode to soft light and then added a final levels adjustment, as well as a hue/sat adjustment to tone down the yellow in the texture.

Here's a few more from the shoot.... each textured with 'phoebe'....

Before we get to linking....I have a couple of announcements.

First, This will be the final TT of 2011. This is our 47th TT! Can you believe that?
Bravo, my friends.... Well done!

I will announce the first theme for 2012 and the restart date after Christmas.... so check back for that. I thought it'd be nice to take a break, so you all can enjoy the season. And maybe, just maybe that will give me a chance to pop around and see more of your amazing texture work!

Second....I'm so excited about this.....  bursting actually.... seriously....bursting!

In honor of YOU..... I have a holiday gift to share!

Announcing

Starting December 12th I will be posting a new freebie each day for 12 days leading up to Christmas....

happy sigh.....

I will also have an on-going linky party set up on the first post so you can come back and link up your '12 day' texture creations..... just for a little extra fun!! No pressure on that!

Woo hoo!!

So, rather than sending out a texture this Sunday.... I will see you Monday...  for our first 12 day texture give away.

Sound good?

Just one more thing.... I'd love to hear your texture wishes? What are you wanting more of? I won't make any promises...but I'd love to hear! You all inspire me so......

.....

New to Texture Tuesdays? Here's the short and sweet TT rules.

  • please link directly to your post, not just to your blog or flickr stream.
  • please link back to the Café. You can grab the TT button HERE, if you wish.
  • please visit the other TT participants and leave them some comment love. Remember it's a party.... and what's a linky party without lots of comment love? Right!

Want more details? Click HERE for the full scoop!

Let's get this party started!!

Shall we?

xo,

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
After the first paragraph I felt withdrawal symptoms coming on...
and then I read the rest.
So wonderful to have new textures to play with over the month and a place to share them with other texture freaks :-)
Enjoy your break from us and best wishes for a peaceful [ if snowy ;-)] Christmas.

Oh Kim, I'm excited to see what you came up with and of course I know I will love each one. How wonderful and generous of you to give even more of yourself.

I wish you the most glorious of holidays with your sweet family, and that you are surrounded by light, love and laughter for all your days.
You are a great source of inspiration to me and I appreciate all you do to spread the love you have for creating amazing textures and sharing them with us. Thank you for feeding the texture junkie in me.
..... stay focused on your passion my dear and all will be right in your world again getting better every day.

Wishing you all the best to you are yours for a very Merry Christmas moving into an even more creative and exciting New Year.
May all the stars fall your way ... and a couple more trips to California for you too. I know how the coast can be soul replenishing, I sure could use a trip down to the Oregon coast myself. Life becomes better because of it ... sigh.

Hugs, Joy

Thanks so much for the promise of 12 days of textures - what a treat to look forward to! Seasons greetings to you and yours - may your Christmas be everything you hope for....
You ask what sort of textures we might like........well, I would love some very soft pastels to try with some of my flower and landscape images. Thanks again.

Wow - what a wonderful and generous gift, Kim -- thanks so much for your generous spirit :) May your Christmas be blessed with much love and laughter and may the New Year bring you great adventure and joy <3

Oops! Forgot texture ideas... I love the look of canvas - you already have a few like this and I see that texture in your new "Look Upon" as well. I also like your "Canvas Magic" textures - the black ones with the "scratches" - more of either of these types would be lovely :)

Thanks for asking!

A BIG thank you ....NO A HUGH thank you to you Kim........I knew zero about PSE at the beginning of the year and look at what I am creating now (well at least I am happy with my creations : )....all because of your on-line class and for TT. The challenges force me to work on it every week and this is the only way to really learn how to use PSE.

Love your photos this week - especially the buttons in the vase with the berries - what a great idea!

And ohhhhhh an early Christmas present!!! Merci Merci! As always, you are so generous with your free textures and tips. I look forward to playing with them. As to what textures I would like more of.....I really love the "scratches" one.

Have a super holiday season and I'll see you in 2012!!! Cheers form Brussels - next year Singapore - Cathy

Can't wait for the 12 days of textures! You never disappoint, Kim! As for texture "preferences," I'm personally a huge fan of "crackly" and "chaulky." Cracker Jack and Ugg Love were my favorites this year. I'm a huge fan of white textures too.
December 6, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJessie
I am so excited Kim!! Thanks for your generosity... I wish you the most loving and wonderful Christmas - you really deserve it. xo

Thanks for asking what we'd love to see... I LOVE the grungey and canvas textures, but I am not very good at hue/saturation so I'd love some more like your beautiful pumpkin grunge? Something that emphasises a colour in a photograph, for example.

I just want to thank you again for all that I have learnt from your workshops and tutorials - you have literally changed my life.
Hugssssssss

Wow, beautiful images. You are really good at setting up a still life to bring out the best composition. 12 days of Textures sounds so wonderful and you are so generous to do that. I love all your textures and I am usually drawn to the grungy earth tone ones, which you do so well, but perhaps a few pastel, soft, dreamy textures would be a nice addition to your mix . . . but anything you come up with is always perfect! Happiest of holidays to you and thank you so much for all your generosity!

Great idea Kim! And generous as always. I thought I would name some of my absolute favorites of yours in hopes of inspiring more new creations. One of my all time favs is "Layers". The texture and the tones are so rich and varied. And the little stamp in the left hand corner works with everything! Next I like #3 from the Ben Collection. I love the deep red brown tone and the scraping texture works when I want something a bit grungy. What I like most about your textures I think is the warm earthtones. They work so well with the florals and still life I shoot. And, I don't know how you do it, but I can make them work with Multiply, softlight and hardlight, unlike many other textures that seem to work only on one blend mode. I also look to your textures when I want a subtle texture. This really helps create a painterly feel when layering and blending three or more on top. Your textures blend well on top of each other. What else? I also like your magic textures with the scratches! Fab! Some more overlays with fancy, fun fonts....how about experimenting with brush strokes. I love brush stroke textures. I think my Christmas list is getting too long! Have fun. Am looking forward to the 12 days of Textures with you!

Kim - what a wonderful gift you are giving us! Thank you so much! I love all of your textures so anything you give us will be delightful I'm sure! Since you asked, I'm partial to textures with a bit of music in them, so would particularly love something of that nature... I'll be looking forward to those twelve upcoming days!!!! Thanks again!

Thank you!!!!! How did you know what was on my list to Santa? :) Happy holidays to you and yours. And what more would I like to see in Textures? Well....probably more color like some soft pastels would be lovely. How nice of you to even ask.

Wow! 12 days of textures! Thank you so much for your generosity! I cant' wait to see them and give them a whirl. My favorite all-time texture of yours is the "Thursday" texture....I've used that is so many of my works. It adds such great tones.

Wow...what a fabulous holiday gift! Thank you so much for your generosity all year long. Even though I haven't been able to participate in the last month or so, I truly look forward to the challenges.

Wishing you and yours the best this holiday season and looking forward to prosperous New Year.

All your textures are wonderful...I do like the black magic with the words off to the side. I'd like to see more along these lines.

Bright blessings,
Kathy
