Hello my friends!

It's time for another Texture Tuesday Linky Party!!

This week's theme is movie titles... 

Pick a title of a favorite movie, and then share a photo that depicts the title.....

Can you guess my movie?  

Maybe yes, maybe no? 

Bryce didn't get it at all... and he is a total movie freak....he looked at my photo and said.... 'key and a bottle?' 

I was like... 'Bryce...think of a movie I love with the word bottle in it...'

and he was like...

'ummm... Message in a Bottle...what does a key have to do with that?' In his extra-special condescending way.... Ugh....

And maybe he's right...but the bottle seemed a little boring without the key... and there is a little paper message in the bottle...  Ugh...

Oh and it gets better.... I called John in to check it out... he stood here, over my shoulder...and out of his mouth...came....

are you ready for this?.... 

'key .... and a .....(long pause).....bottle?' and then he proceeded to say pretty much the same thing Bryce did....

UGH... Some days I feel like I'm so alone in this house of men... haha...

Here's my recipe for today's photo. 

• Layer 1 - Background 
• Layer 2 - Black and white adjustment layer. Reduced the opacity to 55% to bring back some color and create a sepia tone.
• Layer 3 - Added my latest and soon to be released 1,2,3, Texture at soft light 100% opacity. I'm madly in love with this texture. Seriously. 
• Layer 4 - Added Magic Grunge from the Ultimate Bundle at screen blend mode 100% opacity.
• Layer 5 - Added Magic Scratches (rotated 90 degrees) from the Ultimate Bundle at screen blend mode 50% opacity.
• Layer 6 - Added a gradient adjustment. Choose a copper brown to transparent gradient and set the angle to -32 degrees. Set the style to linear.
• Layer 7 - Added a new blank layer set to soft light and with a black soft round brush 50% opacity, I brushed over the message and the bottle. (a little non-destructive burning)
• Layer 8 - Stamped it with my watermark. (scroll down to check out the watermark tutorial on this page)
• The End

But wait, remember that 1,2,3 Texture I mentioned in the recipe? .... well, take a peek....  'sigh'

You would not believe the layers that went into this baby!! But it was worth every bit of time and effort....

{Texture Tuesday} 'It's the Little Things' eDition

This week theme....

'it's the little things.'......

I can not wait to see your interpretations!!

Before we get to sharing, do you have time for another story? It's short and 'sweet'..... 

You all have heard me talk about Winners (Canada's version of TJ Max).....  You know I love it!! 

On Saturday we took a quick zip into town. I just had to pop into Winners!

I walked in, headed straight to my favorite section... the mug and dish aisle...and there, as if waiting for me... sat this GORGEOUS Keep Calm Mug...  Oh my..... j'adore!! (as my friend Denise said)...

Of course I grabbed it up quick....

and then I scanned the shelves looking for more... a little further over and down a few shelves...sat the same mug in black!

Grab...

Love......

Happy... happy... sigh....

With an extra little bounce in my step I checked out the rest of the store..... 2 beautiful mugs came home with me....  

It was a good day!

It's the little things ....

like a cool mug, Ben's wagging tail, a sweet email, laundry done, perfect pen, a good book...... 

And speaking of good books... I'm listening to the audio version of The Help by Katherine Stockett!! It's beyond! Seriously...

I forgot to mention my recipe for this week's photo, I ran Nelly Nero's Modfather action, then added one layer of my finale texture from the Studio Collection at soft light blend mode (slightly desaturated at 66% opacity). That was it!! I love the Nelly Nero modfather action! You can find it here. Also, love the extra bit of grit and POP the texture added!

{Texture Tuesday} The Anything Goes eDition

Here we are...another week has zipped right on by!

My goodness, time flies between TT's. :)

This week.... Please share a recent fav textured photo... containing at least one layer of my textures.

I just had to share my brownie pic with you all and tell you a little bitty story.....

Today, John zipped into town to look at a car for Bryce..... anyhow, the owner of the car owns an antique shop. John did a little shopping while he was there.  

He arrived home with this sweet little 'Holiday Brownie', a 'Brownie Hawkeye', a very cool old scale and a mountain dew pop bottle. 

I'm telling ya... this man knows the way to my heart!! 'sigh'.... happy, happy 'sigh'!  

As for the car, that's another story...  haha...

Oh and totally changing the subject here.... But I must tell you, we went to the BEST movie last night....  

Crazy Stupid Love....  It was laugh out loud funny, touching, and just all around feel good FABULOUS! I have to say, it's exactly what I needed. :)  And as always, the popcorn was De-Lish..... :)

Okay, let's get back on TT-Track here.

How bout a little photoshop recipe?

Vintage Brownie Photoshop Recipe

Converted to black and white using the black and white adjustment layer option in cs5. (choose the maximum white preset from the top dropdown option)

Added a levels adjustment to BOOST the blacks and removed it from the background. This allowed the camera to POP!

Added a black to white gradient map to increase the contrast. Set the blend mode to soft light and reduced the opacity to 32%. (a little more popping going on!)

Added 2 layers of 'scratched magic july' at screen blend mode. Reduced the second layer opacity to 50%.

Added a new blank layer, grabbed a white soft round brush at 30% opacity and painted over the top left area to soften/lighten the background a little bitty.

Stamped it with 'vintage' from my soon to be released 'yesteryear brush' set.

Oh my word... I had big 'dreams' for today's TT post.

But then 'life' happened, and more 'life' happend....and well, here I am....11 pm...and what the heck?

In honor of this week's theme 'dream'.....

I thought I would share 5 dreams with you all....

And I hope you will have time to share a few too. pretty please....

5 DREAMS

• Live and work in Europe.
• Take a family cruise or maybe go to Hawaii.
• Live in a loft...wide open studio space... oh my.... the vision is clear.... lots of white and wood and a brick wall or 2.... texture everywhere....  Can you dig it? :))
• See my children living their dreams.
• Write a book on textures.

There you have it.... 5 of my Mondo Beyondo Dreams in no particular order.....

{Texture Tuesday} The Aurora eDition

Happy TT my friends!

How are you? 

I'm super pumped to see your 'aurora' creations!  I just know you all will not disappoint!

And speaking of not disappointing... Oh my gosh... what a lovely sea of pink we had last week! 

completely GORGEOUS!!

Today I thought I'd share one of my fav cups.... my sweet and fab typewriter (it belonged to my grandfather).... and a little dream inspiration....

Here's today's Photoshop Recipe

Opened the image in ACR and tweaked the white balance and exposure.

Moved the image into photoshop and ran Florabella's B/W Platinum action. I reduced the overall opacity of the action to soften it a little. 

Added the text. Font name is VT Portable Remington. I set the blend mode to soft light at 100% opacity.

Last but most definitely not least.... I added the Aurora texture at soft light 100% opacity.

{Texture Tuesday} The Pretty in Pink eDition

Monday evening.....

I promise you.... I fully intended to share something new and unique for TT.  

I know, I've been milking the peonies for all they are worth....

But I ran out of light!! I'm serious!  

I have been up since 5:30 am. I started work at 6. And other than stopping to take Ben to the trail at 11 for his bike ride and again at 7 for his walk....and making the hungry men around here dinner.... I worked, and I worked... then worked some more...

It was wonderful work... loved every minute of it...but.....

I was sure the light would still be right when I got back from the trail this evening....

Wrong.... It was just too cloudy....And my plan for today's pink eDition just didn't happen. :( 

Bummer!!  Ugh....

Can we just ignore the fact that I've had a week to do my TT shoot?  oops.... :) But, honestly... that's how i roll... Just call me 'last-minute Kim!' 'sigh'

So, into the archives I went.... I found this peony image and set about processing it.

I have to say I was quite happy with the result... but then I scrolled down my site... and there it was.... this same image... lol... processed with last week's texture!!

Yikes...  my memory is really bad!!

So, here you have it.... yet again...

Processed with this week's texture.... 'aurora'.

Here's my quick and easy recipe.

Opened the image, ran the Nelly Nero action, Modfather.

Tweeked the action a little.

Added the Aurora texture at soft light 100% opacity. Removed the texture a bit from the top left and bottom right. (where the texture's script sat on the petals and pitcher).

That's it. :)

So, I'm pretty sure you all have something much more original... to share!!

Now ..... for next week's theme. 

I just gotta see what you all do with Aurora. I'm thinking some of you may use it with your pink eDitions.....

So nice to see you here!  Are you ready to link up?  :)

This week .... Texture Tuesday is all about the #3.....  

And my oh my... I can not wait to see your fabulous interpretations.

But first, I have an easy-peasy recipe for today's peony photo..... 3 peonies in 3 coca cola bottles.....  

I couldn't resist...I had to photograph some more peonies.... Gosh they are so beautiful.

'sigh' 

If only they could last all summer!  

I used the latest canvas-back freebie and another of my favs..... plaster 2 from the Studio Collection. I wanted the subtle framed edge that plaster2 creates..... but this recipe would work well with the freebie canvas-back magic texture as well.

The Three Peony - 5~Layer Photoshop Recipe

layer 1- background

layer 2 - hue/saturation adjustment magenta channel.... just slightly desaturated

layer 3 - canvas back at multiply 22% opacity

layer 4 - plaster 2 inverted and set to screen blend mode 100%

layer 5 - duplicate of layer 3

That's it...that's all....
