Your photo must POP... and contain at least one layer of any of my textures..... that's it, that's all....

Okie doke, let's get this week's TT started.

New to Texture Tuesday? 

To share your photo in the link up you must first post the image on your blog, flickr or a photo sharing site. Once you upload your image you can then add the direct url of the photo to the link up below.

To access the direct url, click on the photo in your flickr stream or the title of your blog post that you uploaded your photo to, then copy the url from the top of your browser address bar by highlighting it, then using the keyboard shortcut command c (mac) control c (pc). Pop back to the link up and click on the blue inlinkz icon at the bottom of the posting. Place your cursor in the image address box and add the copied url using the keyboard shortcut command v (mac) or control v (pc). Complete the rest of the form, then hit next step. Next choose the thumbnail photo you wish to appear in the link up, hit select. You will then have the option to tweet or facebook your link up. Feel free to skip this step if you like. And that's it. Scroll to the link up and your link should be there in just a few moments.

Please note, the TT link up will remain open until Saturday, May 11th...  plenty of time to link up.

What does this mean? 

Share a recent favourite textured photo. Easy Peasy.....

Your image must contain at least one layer of any of my textures. That's it...that's all

 Just a little tidbit on my uptop photo.

I almost gasped when I saw the afternoon light filtering through the new curtains in our white room.... Sometimes the light is just so 'right'.... I snapped a few quick clicks....before heading out the door.

Later, back at my desk...a little Lightroom tweaking..... then into photoshop. I applied one layer of Myrtle (from the soon to be released Cloth and Paper collection) at soft light.... Oh my.... just what it needed.... barely there... yet still there... Ya know?

As I type this... I'm thinking....... there's always a story behind our photos...even the ones we 'make'. I love that...about all this....

Happy, contented sigh......

{Weekend Texture} and a Question for You

How are you? Happy weekend.... 

Before I dive in... big thanks for all the love you shared for my anthropologie video. I truly appreciate the sweet & gentle encouragement. I'm super excited about video.... I've been practicing a lot this past week. I've learnt so much in just a few days.... It's amazing what committing to the process can do.

Before I make the announcement... I'd like to share why I love give aways..... It might not be for the reason you think.

From a marketing point of view, give aways bring traffic to your site. Yep, it's true.......but give away visitors don't necessarily lead to faithful readers. It's no secret...some only comment because they want a chance to win the give away. 

I'm okay with this.... for two reasons....

First I have the most lovely and oh so faithful readers! So grateful.
Second....I love reading all the comments! Oh my goodness..... It fills my heart... BIG!

I'm considering a new class offering....maybe 2 - one for Elements 11 and one for Photoshop CS6.
Today I'd love to hear what version of Elements &/or Photoshop you are using....

Finding My Way Back

Hello lovelies. How are you? I've missed this, I've missed you… It's been too long. It feels like months since I've been here.

Where does one begin? Hmm, let's see.....

The hustle and bustle of Christmas and family gatherings happened, then a nasty cold knocked me off my feet for several days. Sadly on January 2nd, John's father passed away. What began as a short hiatus moved into weeks of time away….. I'm so ready to be back. I'm longing for normal again….I miss my quiet simple life…photographing treasures.... sharing photos and inspiration...such a huge highlight in my life. I want it back.

How was your holiday? the new year? Tell me something new, dear friend….. 

This past week, in between the chaos, I've been taking lots of tea photos...... I suppose it's the season...the comfort of hot tea is so special..... I've also gathered a few new cups over this past month that I've been bursting to photograph.

Okay, It's definitely time for a texture….. or 2. Don't you think?

Also my Lightroom class, Round Trip, begins on the 15th… that's next week already….. I'm leaving the early bird price on it as well. Lightroom is amazing....I don't know how I lived without it...it's been life changing.... I know that sounds dramatic, but I'm totally serious.... It's truly an incredible program!

As for 2013….. I have some exciting plans brewing... One thing I'm excited about is sharing more Lightroom tips and tutorials here at the Café. Texture Tuesday will be back next week. I will have more details later this week. And I hope to offer a brand new collection of textures in the shop later this month!

{Weekend Texture} Book Love.... Let the Give Aways Begin

Hello dear friends,

How are you? I hope your weekend was just right...... Mine was sweet.... a little of this and a little of that. Bryce was home...so nice.... John and I had a breakfast date on Saturday....did a little shopping.... tookbeautiful walks on the frosty trail with the pups.... perfect winter weather..... a good weekend....

I have a confession to share.....
Christmas snuck up on me this year.... Big time!I had a 12 days of  Christmas idea for the Café.... and ummm, I ran out of days. No idea how that happened....I am not kidding.... Yesterday I realized just how close Christmas is..... had a moment of panic.... But as always, what gets done, get's done. It's all good... right?

Side note...I posted a holiday photo in Instagram today....and through a series of comments, including one from Holly (soupatraveler) a new hashtag was born-  #ohcrapitsalmostchristmas..... too funny..... you can check out the thread here. 

Anyhow, because I didn't get the 12 day thing going as planned.... I must make it up to you....

I thought I'd do a few assorted give aways over the next week and a bit......starting today..... 

I'm in love with the book in my up-top photo... The Natural Home.... I've given a copy away here before. It inspires me every single time I open it. In fact I lost myself in it today..... poof....an hour passed by.....head spinning.....so many photo ideas.

My Ben photo was processed in Lightroom....I'm telling you friends... It's magical..... So many possiblities.... More on Lightroom this week.... I'm excited to start sharing some tips with you all.

Anyhow, I processed the raw photo in lightroom...then hit the quick 'edit in photoshop' command... Voila..into photoshop ready for a little extra texture magic...and of course a quote.

Texture Recipe...a layer of today's nested...at multiply 26% opacity... then added the wise words of Einstein.... font used... Rough Typewriter.

Weekend Texture - Partings

Hello friends, 

I hope this note finds you well...... I'm popping in with a new texture...and just a little teensy bit of rambling....

It's been quite a month...so much going on... Brett moved out, started university...Bryce moved into his own place yesterday.... and I'm sure it will be an ongoing move for about a week... He's only a half hour away. But I've found myself in a bit of an emotional space.... not sure what I'm feeling... You know how it is... mix in that girly hormonal stuff....and let's just say.... from last evening...about 10:00 til I choose the quote for this photo... 10 minutes ago...  I had myself in all kinds of doom and gloom...and man was I grumpy to John. Everything was his fault.....  'sigh'....

But thanks to Marianne Williamson's wise words... I'm seeing the sun.... and it's a GOOD day... We are blessed.... Life is good..... and after I post this up I'm taking Ben to the trail for some fresh air and reflection....

Tell me... how bout you? It seems like days like these seem to just creep up on me... do you find it the same? I'm curious.... what gets you out of your 'blues'? Do tell....

I love hearing your thoughts... You are all so wise.... and I appreciate you so much.

But enough about me and my woes....  it's all good... really it is.....
