Hello Sweet Friends......
Happiest Thursday!! Is the sun shining in your world? :) OH my goodness...I'm happy to say it is here.
I have been pondering light and sunshine a lot lately. Perhaps I'm a little obsessed! But, photography is all about the light..... Right?
As I shared with you on the weekend... we took a trip to the greenhouse....
As you can see...John takes the whole thing very seriously... List in hand... notes jotted down...
'this will go here.... that will go there'....
Me on the other hand...
snap, snap.... 'oh these are pretty.... let's get these...'
John, 'Yes Kimmy... but we need shade plants, remember?'
Me .... 'Ugh... but i like the sun plants best...'
and so it went.....

As I walked around the greenhouse...I realized what a perfectly lit space it is. The white tarp-like walls diffuse the light....to perfection..... beautiful... just beautiful.... I hadn't really thought about it... But I do know I've always loved the light and warmth of a greenhouse!
I challenge you to take a trip to yours with your camera.... Don't be shy. They seem to be used to the request....and completely non-hesitant.
If you've been struggling with your photography.... you may find a perfectly lit greenhouse gives you the lovely photos you've been 'shooting' for. Not to mention an endless supply of color filled subjects....
What do you have to lose? :)
And I'm guessing it will leave you wanting more....beautiful...softly diffused light.... Oh how I love it!
And when you get home.... I challenge you to start looking for the light.... whether it's inside or out. Go hunting.
In my home I have lovely morning light in the studio, and almost perfect light, morning and afternoon, in the 'white room'. The front porch is pretty fabulous during the golden hours..... You gotta get to know the light, my friends. Believe me....I'm still learning.... But the more I focus on the light... the more pleased I am with the photos I am capturing.
And you really should get to know your camera as well! Before you think about an upgrade.... I challenge you to learn the ins and outs of your current camera. You could be surprised with what it can do.
Here's a challenge...set up a scene and leave it somewhere that you feel allows you good light. Take pics throughout the day... get to know the light that particular space has to offer. Move the subject around, move your body......adjust your camera settings... such as your white balance, apertures, exposure..... It's digital... so really...what do you have to lose? :)
Light is key.... You may think it's just your camera....But I promise you the light can paint a most beautiful picture..... when you get it just right. You may find your camera is fabulous after all!
And so my friends... I leave you with that... a little teensy weensy lesson in light....
