Texture Tuesday - Let's Celebrate eDition

 textured with subtly yours.

Hello friends,

Welcome to TT.... The Celebrate eDition

This week's TT challenge details are...

Your photo must center around the word celebrate....

Personally, I'm celebrating that I have photos like this in my archives...because it's still snowing, freezing cold and just down right wintery here.....  When winter is finally over... I will definitely celebrate spring and blossoms...and oh my.... will it ever be?

To share, simply add your link below using the inlinkz gadget down at the bottom of today's post.

It's time we had an official IG hashtag. If you are interested in sharing your TT photos via IG feel free to use the hashtag, #kktexturetuesday.

Before we start linking up, let's talk next weeks TT Theme.

Tuesday, April 25th theme is Free & Easy....

What does this mean?

Your photo must contain at least one layer of any of my textures...that's it..that's all.

Okie doke, let's get this week's TT started.

New to Texture Tuesday?

To share your photo in the link up you must first post the image on your blog, flickr or a photo sharing site. Once you upload your image you can then add the direct url of the photo to the link up below.

To access the direct url, click on the photo in your flickr stream or the title of your blog post that you uploaded your photo to, then copy the url from the top of your browser address bar by highlighting it, then using the keyboard shortcut command c (mac) control c (pc). Pop back to the link up and click on the blue inlinkz icon at the bottom of the posting. Place your cursor in the image address box and add the copied url using the keyboard shortcut command v (mac) or control v (pc). Complete the rest of the form, then hit next step. Next choose the thumbnail photo you wish to appear in the link up, hit select. You will then have the option to tweet or facebook your link up. Feel free to skip this step if you like. And that's it. Scroll to the link up and your link should be there in just a few moments.

Please note, the link up will remain open until Saturday, April 20th...  plenty of time to link up.

Before I sign off... my new crash class... Texturize has begun.....If you are a TK member be sure to login and check it out.....

Not a TK member, sign up here... get instant access to the class and more video tutorials....and grab the 2012 collection before it's gone.

{Texture Tuesday} The Look-Down eDition & a Give Away.

on the front porch....textured with dream-it.... mouse over to see the original

Hello friends,

Welcome to Texture Tuesday. I'm so glad you are here.

This Week's TT Challenge details

In honour of Shutter Sister's month long celebration of Elevate the Everyday (more HERE) I thought it would be fun to match today's Elevate prompt which is.....Looking Down....

In celebration of Tracey's beautiful new book.... I'd love to send one lucky TT'er a copy of Elevate the Everyday. To enter, join today's TT link-up and leave a comment below stating one of your favorite everyday, ordinary moments..... I will announce the winner on Sunday. The contest will close on Saturday at midnight.

So for this week, your image must center around 'look down' and contain at least one layer of any of my textures. And why not pop over to Shutter Sisters and link-up there as well.

::

I have a new texture for you today. I call this one dream-it.

Click HERE to download dream-it. Want free textures? Be sure to join the Texture Lovin' List HERE.

For my image up top I simply opened it in PS and added a layer of dream-it at soft light 80% opacity...then applied a fairly high gaussian blur filter.... which basically allowed me to borrow the tones rather than the texture.

Before we start linking up.... let's talk next week's TT theme.....

Tuesday, August 21st Texture Tuesday Guidelines are:

Your image must contain at least one layer of today's texture, Dream It. That's it...that's all.

New to Texture Tuesdays? Here's the short and sweet TT rules.

  • please link directly to your TT post, not to your main blog url or flickr stream. Please do not link to your online shop.
  • please link back to the Café. You can grab the TT button HERE, if you wish.
  • please visit the other TT participants and leave them some comment love. Remember it's a party.... and what's a linky party without lots of comment love? Right!

Want more details? Click HERE for the full scoop!

.....

Okie doke... time to get started..... Have fun....and as always .... BIG GRATITUDE to each of you that play along.

xo,

p.s. i had the honour to share an interview with Lesley Riley of Art & Soul Radio....If you'd like to have a listen, click here. :)

One more look down.... same recipe as the up-top image.

Canvas-Backed Texture Sharing from Our Front Porch

Happiest Sunday..... and happy, happy Long Weekend to my Canadian and American friends...

Today I have a sweet texture set for you....But first, I thought I would share a few snaps from our front porch.

Come on in....  have a seat.... would you like some iced tea? :)

Do you like my pink peonies?

Just 2 houses down.... there's a little abandoned house.... with a lovely patch of peonies in the front....I just had to take my scissors and snip a few....

Question for all the experienced gardners out there..... why do ants love peonies so much?

I'm so glad we have our front porch to display these pink beauties.......  I wouldn't dare bring them in the house....they were/are full of ants.....  But they certainly are pretty!

'sigh'

As I was looking at these photos... I realized my front porch looks a little '4th of July' Festive. :)

I've always loved the patriotic american colors.....

I definitely should have moved the rusty bucket out from under the swing before I snapped this pic... It looks like it's full of garbage...but it's actually storing Ben's brushes, toys, and his towel...

This swing is one of my most favorite places to just 'be'....

I spent an hour sitting here this morning....flipping thru the pages of a few new books.....soaking up the sun.

If you haven't checked out the beautiful book...'Pale and Interesting'.... you must... It's full to the brim with white and light....inspiration........

front porch side notes:

I used an old quilt and shams to cover my unmatched swing and chair cushions....easy-peasy...no-sew fix.....

I really want to paint the front door white or even better, replace it with an old fashioned white screen door. I just need to get John on board........seeing as he would be the one installing it.

The ladder is coming down, so I can give it a coat of white paint ..... I also have some white shutters to hang as accents.....

And doesn't Ben look right at home? He loves the porch as much as we do. :)

I could go on and on.....  but.... it's time for that texture.... actually I should say.... textures.... I have a sweet set for you today!

I used the canvas-back magic at 100% screen blend mode on the image below....

mouse over to see the before

And Canvas back on this image.....one layer on soft light 80% opacity and one layer on screen at 10% opacity. love the old worn effect.....

(TK members - I just put the instructional video up a few moments ago).

mouse over to see the before

I can't wait to see what you all do with these.....

Texture Lovin' Listers.... the download link is coming your way.... in just a few....

Not on the list? Feel free to sign up HERE, and get started with lots of fab FREEBIES.

I'm off to make some dinner......

Here's to a beautifully inspired week my friends!

xxo,

p.s. I'd love to see your outdoor spaces.... be sure to link to them in the comments so I can come take a peek into your world.....

{Texture Tuesday} The Garden Party eDition

Hello my sweet texture lovin' friends!

How are you?  I would love to report the sun is shining here... But sadly it's another downpour. 'sigh'  Man oh man...it's raining!

Ben has his head on my lap... looking up at me... 'mommy, when can we go for our bike ride?' Rain or shine we go.... so after I finish up this post...schedule it for midnight we are off to get drenched! Ugh.....

{note to self..... kim, stop your whining......Yeesh....you have not one thing to complain about }

Let's get this party started!

Okay so, this week's TT theme is gardening..... and I my images might appear to be more 'front porch' themed....  But the main focus of each photo is the herbs we picked up at the nursery or a few of the plants we potted. :) I say 'we' as in John... :)

I have a few versions to share.  I used this past weekend's texture 'stained linen'........ on the above.... and this one below....

Then I thought I'd test a black and white eDition... love it with a touch of sepia.

And just one more.....  a broader view of the porch.... in true colors without texture.

I will have to share a little front porch tour soon.  It's definitely a wonderful place to just 'BE'......

.....

Okay so, I'm so in awe of the amazing TT participation!  Wowzer!! Absolutely INSPIRED. Thank you!

You all deserve a crack at a little give away!!  Don't you think?

So this week..... I have 2 3 chances for you to win!

The winner will be announced on Sunday, June 5th.

And how about next week?  We need a theme!

Next week, let's get a little creative... and add some 'words'.....

What do I mean?  Well, any words will do....(preferably happy and uplifting)....

You can add some text to your image, like I did in the today's top photo....or share a photo with words already in it. And of course it must contain at least one layer of any of my textures.  :)

I think that covers it...... Can't wait to see what you share...... I haven't been able to visit every link...but I love looking at all the pretty thumbnails!  Bravo, my friends.... Bravo!!
