makeover monday ~ texturized

mouse over to see the before

hi there...

finally getting this posted.....

what a most fabulous, but fast day!!

so here's a lovely image i took on the trail today.  i'm in love with the little ponds along the trail.  i love the amazing reflection off the water.
but it was bright and i didn't adjust my aperture...so this image although beautiful was a little washed out.

not to worry...textures to the rescue.
so here's my recipe on this image....
curves adjustment
autumn texture from my collection - soft light 100%
tiled window from my collection - soft light 100%
the autumn texture makes the browns and rusts pop... and the tiled window just seemed to soften and even things out.

i heart this scene....sigh....

...

p.s.

you can purchase my textures here.
and don't forget class registration for photoshop the "skinny" closes on friday.
i'm so excited about the class... and thanks so much to all that have registered already...

yay.....

til next time.... have a most fabulous evening....

we're talking eggs

hi there

happiest saturday.....

as i mentioned yesterday, i am taking candc's photography class.
and here i am.... 5:30 pm... just getting my homework posted....
gosh darn i can be a pokey girl....

we were to photograph a white egg and then add a colored egg.
really?  i wasn't sure what to expect.  but i was happy to give it a try.

so i took some black and white background images from different light angles.

here they are.  i used my sketch book for the black backdrop.  the chippy white is the top of an old
steel washtub on our front porch.

i then pulled out my paper mache easter eggs and took a few pics that i wanted to share.

irene got in on the action.

then a gust of wind came along....wooo... hang on irene.....

pulled out the little egg cups, and set them on the vintage scale

thought i'd take the "real egg" on a little tour....
add a little more excitement to it's day...seeing as tomorrow, you know.....
scrambled eggs for breakfast... :)

so we visited the river rocks.

spent a few moments with the paper mache eggs.

took a moment to appreciate the simple things

who knew, eggs could be so much fun...

thanks bunches carolyn!
can't wait to see what camilla has planned for this week....

happiest saturday....

before & after and words to live by

mouse over for the before texture image.

to create this image i adjusted the curves, to make the daffodils pop.
then added the "antiqued edge" texture from the collection
 with a soft light blending mode.
and finally, removed the texture from the yellow petals.

~~~~~
it hit me last night....
not sure why the message was so clear....
but the message was for me and for you too!
drum roll please....
~~~~~

"YES YOU CAN"

yes you can do it.
anything you set your mind to....
whether it's as simple as taking a walk everyday,
learning something new (like how to use your camera or learning to draw),
spending more time with yourself,
spending more time with your family,
enjoying life,
taking deep breaths
making it through a difficult time

whatever it is....

"YES YOU CAN"

i'm just sayin...
cause yes i can....
"sigh"

~~~~~
back soon with a pretty darn cool tutorial on creating a watermark brush in photoshop.
happiest tuesday....♥kim
a tribute to spring
mouse over to see the before texture image
to create this image i used 5 textures from the new collection.
gesso, linen light, scratched, robins egg and celery.
i removed the texture on the tulips and the glass bottle.
see the video on removing the textures from parts of your image.
this was created using the screen blending mode on the first texture gesso
 to white out the background
then layering the textures, playing with the blending modes and opacity.
want more specifics? :)
stay tuned.
but in the mean time... just play.. add layers... play...add layers
