You know how much I love Kinfolk magazine....right? It's such a treasure....just holding it in my hands is enough. There's something about the paper that makes me so happy.... and of course the photos are always so inspiring.

My copy of volume 6 arrived a few days ago. I haven't had a chance to sit down with it quite yet... I can't wait to open it up and soak it all in.

I'm currently reading David McCollough's "The Greater Journey" about Americans in Paris. One particular interest for me is the inclusion of Harriet Beecher Stowe (of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" fame), who is a distant relative of my husband's! I am a bookworm of the highest order --- love Dickens especially!!!

I recently finished "When Women Were Birds" by Terry Tempest Williams. GREAT book, I will buy a copy (usually just get a copy from the library) as I had to resist underlining and highlighting in the library copy!

I love anything to do with England and especially around the World War II. I just finished reading The Solder's Wife by Margaret Leroy, set in England. I just started a new one again set in England about the children that were sent out of London during WWII to the countryside. It is called The Very Thought of You by Rosie Allison, just started it but know I will like it.

I just finished reading Eight Girls Taking Pictures by Whitney Otto. It is an excellent read especially if you love photography! The book centers on 8 fictional narratives about women photographers that are based loosely on the lives of real photographers such as Imogen Cunningham, Ruth Orkin, Tina Modotti and others. It is fascinating especially concerning how creative women try to reconcile their creative and artistic life with their family life. Seems like this has been a historical problem for women artists!

Hi Kim, Since my sister just got back from a trip to Paris I'm reading a book called Almost French, a true story by author Sarah Turnbull who as n up & coming journalist falls in love with a French man. It's about how a very casual living Australian girl learns to adapt to life in Paris where appearance is very important and how you present yourself is a sign of respect. I'm really enjoying it especially since it's autobiographical. I would love to win a copy of your book Kinfolk. As a young child we didn't have TV so we all learned to love our books and all four siblings are avid readers to this day.

Oh my gosh... I love Kinfolk, but have only seen it from a distant.... Never held one in my hands. I am currently reading Eight Girls Taking Pictures. by Whitney Otto. It is really good. It is the story of eight different woman, from around the world and their struggles. Each use their camera in one way or another to work through life's problems. The stories take place in the early 1900's. So far I am loving it. Thanks Kim for all you do!

I love books, especially old books. I have a large collection of children's fiction. However my most recent read was 'Endal', the story of a CPI dog who brought his master back from the depths of depression after he was injured while serving overseas, giving him a new will to live and enjoy life again. Endal was a truly amazing dog who I was privileged to meet on one occasion.
I'd love to read Kinfolk magazine, I've never hear of it but if you like it, it must be good!

I remember the first time I saw Somerset Studio magazine. We were on holiday from the the UK and we were in Barnes and Noble in Boston. Oh my it was love at first sight and over the last 6 years I have eagerly awaited the next edition. I am currently reading "These Is My Words," a fictional diary written by a young lady in 1880s Arizona Territory. Since it is where I live, I'm really enjoying it!

I am currently reading a Goodwill find, Happily Ever After. It was published in 1949 and tells the story of a family's adventures restoring an old home called Gaston Hall in Orange County, Virginia. I live in Virginia not far from Orange County, so I was hooked right away. And, of course, no matter how old I grow, I still believe in happily ever after. I am reading "The Help" and am thoroughly enjoying it. I got so involved that I didn't realize that I had stayed up until 4 AM the other morning. I only stopped because my son came home! I've just closed the cover on The Tale of Despereaux by Kate di Camillo. I've not seen the movie so the book was new to me though it has been around quite some time. A wonderful read.

This is crazy because I would never choose to read this but...I got to thinking about my mother who passed away in 2006. She only had an 8th grade education and books were just not a large part of her life.

For some reason my sister got her to read V. C. Andrews first book which is called "Flowers in the Attic".
I am reading the book this Christmas in honor of my mom.

I thought my eyes could capture her thoughts are she read this book. ha

I've heard of Kinfolk ~ I have a slight addiction to lovely textural magazines! but have not had the in person pleasure of it. I rarely get time to sit and really read these day and that's why "Toujours Provence" is the perfect book. By Peter Mayle, it's a lovely collection of tales about life in Provence.

I´v never heard of that magazine and am very curious what´s it about :) Reading.....well I think it´s an Icelandic magazine called VIKAN just a magazine about fashion, recipes, stories, jokes and so on - the word VIKAN means the week

I just finished The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. It is fabulous read...filled with the complexities of life, family, children, relationships, and more life. I loved it. Another excellent read is The Girl Who Fell From the Sky. Happy happy Holidays and enjoy time with those that you love.

Oh dear! It seems I'm quite the odd one here! I got an early Xmas present a of an iPad mini and I am reading "A Discovery of Witches" on it. I do have "Gone Girl" waiting on the shelf though. Does that make me more normal?

I've never read Kinfolk but have heard of it. I would love to read it! Maybe that would help? lol!
