Believe in your Dreams - The Possibilities are Endless
Wed, January 5

Happy Wednesday my sweet friends!
How are you? And can I just say something before I move forward? :)
When I say how are you? I really do mean it.. How are you? And I really do hope you are well!! Truly...
And perhaps if you are not... can I just remind you....
something that helped get me thru the most difficult time in my life... This isn't new... nothing you probably haven't heard. But it's the TRUTH.
'This too, shall pass....'
I have to say.... I wasn't overly thrilled when someone who really had no clue about what we were going through would say that. 'Kim, remember....this too shall pass...'
But, I did make that my personal mantra....over and over.... as life came tumbling down around me...
'This too, shall pass....'
Believe it...hold onto it...and don't forget to BREATHE... big deep breaths......
.....
Okay.....so.....I've been thinking a lot about this past year...and all the amazing things I have experienced. It's the whole new year thing.. makes us all extra reflective....
I am so grateful for all I have....so thankful I get to wake up each day and do what I LOVE!
I've had many email messages asking me how I do it? Things like....You make it look easy, how? What's your secret? Do you have any advice?
And I've pondered the question and answered as best that I could, without writing a book.
But the one thing I know for sure... over this past year...as I've been working 10-16 hour days....very rarely did it actually feel like work!!
Why?
Cause, the heart is big and limitless.... and when you are doing something from your heart...something you truly LOVE... your energy will be limitless as well.
So there's the short answer...
And here's a few more little tidbits......
dive in and learn.... read, research, read some more, take classes, ask questions.......
and one more thing....
give, GIVE all you can...... and wow, the doors will open... WIDE... to the endless possibilities.
I wanted to ask you?
Are you open? Open wide? To the possibilities in your life?
Really think about it!! Really truly consider it?
And if you are not, perhaps it is time to do something about it!!
Baby steps, my friends....
Get out that pen and paper, make a list of what you could do? what you are good at? what you LOVE? where you wanna be? Imagine yourself doing those things? Imagine how it would feel? Open your mind and heart to receiving it.... and then ........
just START...... from where ever you are.... START... simply.... show up and start....

Now...
It's time to announce the Art of Texture - The Secrets Revealed Scholarship winner!!
Drum roll... but first.....just have to say ... I wish so many of you could win.... 'sigh'
The winner is ... Lois Nason.
Thank you all...so much!!
I have a little texture freebie for you today..... at least you won't 'go home' empty handed.... right......
Today's texture is called warm vignette......it's a gooder....

I used it on this sweet little pony image...and wow, did it warm things up!

and on this little shed image as well.
(also used vintage companion from my vintage collection)

Okay my friends...thanks so much for all your beautiful comments on the last post...
Perhaps we will need another give away soon.
I'm off to find the family something to eat.... apparently they are hungry...
yeesh.... I need to open wide to the possibilities of someone else doing the cooking around here!! Seriously... :)
Until next time... Love & Gratitude.....xxo, kim

very nice! thanks
Ah shucks, I didn't win! Thanks for the great consolation texture...it's great!
Thanks Kim. Your textures are always an inspirational treat!
I'm with you on the finding someone else to do the cooking possibility. Boy am I open to that. Way open!
Hi Kim, I guess that I am not the only one who wonders how you do it all. May I ask, when you are working those long hrs. is it in the studio doing projects and making art? Do you approach your day as getting up and going to a job not at home? I find all the stuff at home gets in the way(or is an excuse) for STARTING all the thing I want to do. I feel I need to be away from it all to be creative. Your word start became my word for 2011 because that is what I really really need to do. It just kept coming back to me. You are very inspirational, thank you for being someone I can reach out to. Pat
Thanks for another beautiful texture. I'm still pondering how open I've been lately. I think I can say I'm open in some aspects of life and not in others - which gives me something to work on.
Thank you, Kim, for your wonderful textures. I am having so much fun with them! xo!
Thanks a lot, both for the freebie and the inspiration! HUGS!
Thank you so much. You are such an inspiration!
Ohhh, Kim...I am soooo happy to be the winner of this fantastic class. I can't wait for it to start now...gotta get it on my calendar and be ready to soak it all in. You are a true gift, in and of yourself. You give so much of yourself and have become my inspiration. Not just because of your textures and your artistic abilities, but because you give so much of yourself to your readers. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And, for all of those wishing it had been you...I promise to make the best use of it that I can and not take it for granted.
Thank you again Kim...you made me sooo happy! Big smiles!
Hi Kim,
I really like how you think. Thank you for your insight and oh yes those beautiful textures. I am going to sign up for the class by the end of the week. I hope there isn't a cut off. Is there?
Leslie

thank you so much for the beautiful textures and all the help and encouragement you share here!
This one is just wonderful, Kim! I love warm! Thanks you again for all your generosity
XO Jan.
Thanks Kim, I know that phrase very well. It was used many, many times last year. And it works, it got us through a very troublesome year.
Now we are looking towards a brighter horizan.
Thanks for sharing all your lovely textures, and for that free class you shared. I really need it, and will be having to do it a few times before it really "sticks."

You spoke to my heart, Kim. 'Believe in your dreams', 'doing what you love - endless energy', 'just start','give all you can'... Thank you for your words of wisdom, for living your words. I hope you know how much your example filters down!
And yes, I too wonder how you do it all - not necessarily when life is up and running smoothly (I get that!), but when life is harder and you are dealing with turmoil. I marvel at how you had the energy to keep up with all your classes and posts and creations when you went through the trials of the last couple of months. Way to go, girl!!
Kim, this is an especially rich-looking, beautiful texture. Thank you very much, and congrats to Lois!
I've signed up and I'm really looking forward to this class!

First of all, Congrats, Lois! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time in the class. And thanks for sharing, Kim. Not just the cool freebie texture, but you also. :)
You Rock! Yes, doing what you love, no matter the hours, is all so worth it. Thanks for the new texture!
Beautiful texture. Thank you for the freebie!
Silly question, but am a newbie to photoshop. How do you use these textures? Thanks.
An exciting one, for sure....l need to learn how to make the textures less overwhelming in a picture...mine seem to turn out muddy.
Thank you for this great freebie texture. I love it.
Thanks for the lovely new texture - a great start for this new year. I must work hard at finding the best way to use these textures. Like you say, give time. So many good intentions, but where does the time go?
Thanks, so much, for the texture freebie and all the inspiration that you give!
lucky Lois!! she will love it i am sure . your encouragement and excitement is catching ..
Thank you Kim for being you and reminding me to be me! This to shall pass has been in my life a very long time and sometimes i forget about that, but really all that bad stuff does pass. The one thing i believe in always is, I have had to experience all this -good and bad- to be where i am today.
Thanks for the consolation texture and keeping the spirit alive.
Congratulations to Lois, and thank you Kim for the inspiration, and the beautiful texture gift :)
I love your winter photographs, just wish we would get a bit of snow over here.
Lynn
thanks Kim I can really put this texture to work warming up my cold winter photos
i am not feeling that great but this too shall pass =) thanks for the texture it looks pretty awesome and i love your post today =)
Thank you for your gorgeous textures and generiosity and Happy New Year! (So glad your faithful dog is doing good!)
Kim,
A wonderful, inspirational post!!! I love the idea of big plans taken in small steps. That is the way I approach life, too. It works and it's mentally "do-able"!
Congrats to Lois, you are a lucky girl, Kim is a great teacher! What a inspirational talk today Kim, thank you.
Congratulations Lois! And thank you, Kim, for the fabulous texture...what a wonderful consolation prize... we're all winners;)
Thanks, Kim. I agree with your philosophy. I just need to keep reminding myself. The class has been great. Thanks for sharing so willingly your knowledge and skill.
Kim, Thank you for the yummy new texture, inspiring words, and liberal doses of encouragement you spread far and wide! Love that horse photo...she {he} looks like she is wearing over-the-knee suede boots! What gorgeous markings! Xo, Sue
Thank you for that very inspirational post. I'm going to bookmark it so I can refer back to it often. Also thank you for the textures. I still haven't figured out totally yet how to use them in Photoshop, but hopefully soon I'll get a little smarter.
I was wondering how Ben is doing? I always look for your posts to see how he is.
Cindy
Thank you. I so enjoy seeing what you do and roaming your site.
Love, love your textures. Thanks so much, Kim
Another great post Kim, love the texture too! I like to say "roll with it" instead of "this too shall pass" same idea but a little less cliche (to me at least). I've had to use that mantra a lot this past year and I'm sure I will more in the future but it's how you deal with what is thrown at you in life that carves you into your perfect form.
Have a blessed new year, Kim!
Thank you. I needed so many of the words you just shared from your heart. I love the textures, inspiration and your outlook.
