how are you this friday?
i hope you are well and ready for a relaxing weekend ahead.
i'm not too sure what we have planned.
but i know we won't be going far...
john is on call for ambulance.
but really, who am i kidding... we rarely go far.

a few things to share.....

i miss him soooo deeply.
and part of me wants to just close myself off...
but i have to move forward.
he will truly, as many of you said, be in my heart forever.
andy was the most uncomplicated companion a girl could have asked for.

so, my friends....it's not right to spread sadness...
i want nothing more than to spread joy and inspiration here at the cafe.
so in honor of

i have some goodness to share.
first a speed painting video ....

i first shared this with my 'art of texture' students.
but i thought it'd be fun to share it here as well.

i call it 'layered'
and can i just say..
i love it!!
i used it on my lilac image above.
be sure to mouse over for the before.
here's the photoshop 'recipe'
converted the image to black and white.
added the 'layered' texture at multiply 57%
pulled it out a little here and there
added a layer of the original image at soft light 60%
a levels adjustment
and finally a sepia filter at soft light.
oh yeah, the texture....

Oh. My. goodness - that was freaking amazing - I had no idea how textures were made! Who knew? It does however make me want to grab my gesso, paints and "stuff" tomorrow and just play and see what happens, but I'm pretty sure there is an art to it ;) still it would be fun...
