So Long 2010... So Good to Know You

used today's texture on the image above.

Happy New Year....Sweet Friends

How are you?

Can you believe it...another year...come and gone! Isn't it insane how quickly the time just slips on by?

Okay so I think you know...  2010 was a love affair kind of year for me.  I so loved this past year.

And the reason being.....almost every single day.... I was doing what I love.... living my passion....  and even getting paid to do it!!  How's that for awesome?

So with that said.....  not every year is like that...  some are down right awful.

But, good, bad or otherwise....it's over....

It's a new year...  a clean slate.... a fresh start....  what could be better?

Time to stop hiding behind our insecurities...and start living our DREAMS...

It's going to be FAB...truly FAB!

And as I say this...think baby steps...my friends...  baby steps. :)

What do you say?  Are you ready to embrace your inner artist.....  start feeding your soul....  and believing in EWE?

It's all so very exciting!!  (okay so the ewe thing was kinda corny...but i had this sheep pic that Ben and I took on our drive today......pretend it's a ewe...pretend you don't see the horns... okay?  .....)

Now how bout a little artful inspiration.....?  sound good?

Here's a passage from Julia Cameron's Arist's Way Every Day book ....for December 31st.

"when we say that making art is an act of faith and that as we make art we pursue a spiritual path, we are not talking loosely.  there is a grace in our every artistic encounter.  Miracles do happen.  We do not plan them. We hope for them and then we are open to the creator's mentoring hand in improving our suggestions. What looks difficult or impossible to us does not appear difficult or impossible to the Great Creator. "

Isn't that ... truly inspired?

So ... here's to an ART FULL 2011...and all that it holds possible!

Today i created a texture for you.... it includes each of your one little words shared in the comments section below Wednesday's post.

Persevere (verb) - to persist in anything undertaken, maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles or discouragement; continue steadfastly.

Persevere is my word for the year and it fits in so many areas of my life. With your help, I have begun to take my photography more seriously, am beginning to create my own textures and my time creating images gives me an outlet for the perseverence my personal life often requires.

Thank you for your continued inspiration and for challenging us to be better. You know, I've never had anyone ask me to think of a word to start my new year with. When I first read your post I thought "whatever" and then I came up with words like crapiness, overwhelming,.. Then, without knowing it, my brain started taking the challenge seriously. It made me think about what I want for the new year, where I'd like the year to take me and what I'd need to get there. Perseverence, probably alot, of perseverence. I've decided I'm up to the challenge. Let the new year begin! With gratitude, Kathe

Kim thanks once more for your inspiration. I enjoy reading your blog, and the textures are the best. I really want to learn the get your hands dirty make the art, I'm not so much into photography, except the basics. I really miss the "pattern club". Hugs, to Ben, and Happy New Year to you and your family. Sheila

I want to add my thank you for turning me on to Textures. I am a beginner, still in the elementary process stages. It's been slow, frustrating mostly, but I am beginning to catch on and see the light. I'll eventually get there with practice, practice and more practice.

Your textures and photos inspire me to be a better photographer. I'm actually sorting through my photos from this year and it's made me realize how blessed I am. I'm also digging up so old photos and playing with your textures! A fun way to spend New Year's Eve in my book!

Generosity is what inspires me. My husband has taught me a lot about giving in 2010; he's very good at giving to me and to others. And Kim, your generous spirit that I find in your teaching and sharing has inspired me greatly this year.
Blessings! And Thank You!

Happy New Year Kim!!!!! You have been such an inspiration to me over the past few months. I am in the process of rebuilding my photography business and figuring out how to keep doing what I love and earn a living at it. You have blessed me with so many ideas and I can not wait to start 2011. Your textures are wonderful and you are such a kind hearted person to share the talent with us. Blessing to you in 2011!

I just discovered your blog and it just might be fate. I'm recently laid off and 2011 will be the year to see if I can make it 'on my own'. I'm a graphic designer and would love to take a class on textures from you. Thank you for offering this awesome give-away!

December 31, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJill

I took the skinny-mini class with my 12-year-old daughter and I can't tell you how much we enjoyed it! You are such a great teacher and inspired us both. Thank you so very much for helping me to make some sweet memories with my daughter. It is so exciting to watch her creativity bloom. She would be thrilled (and so would I :-) if we won a spot in another of your workshops! I have a feeling your workshops are going to be on her birthday wish list. Thank you again for your generosity!

Happy New Year!

Kim, I would really love to win the class you are offering. When I feel I can offer something - such as something to share lovingly with others that I will 'Pay It Forward." I found your blog earlier this year and have been blown away by you. Your inspiration and your art. But, mainly your inspiration of your readers' art and your gratitude.

I caught on to you right after you were able to buy your mac from your "iMac Pack." That was brilliant and it made me want to buy for you. I couldn't because I am one of the millions of unemployed people all over the country now. At first, I found it quite depressing, stressful and sad. Since I found your site, I've gotten a new attitude. I've been realizing that if I put my faith and love into whatever I choose to do that I will thrive.

I believe that your class would give me a new inspiration in my craft. I am a graphic designer. I do mainly print, but do some web also. I realize that you use your textures on photos, but I've been playing with them in background textures for artistic backgrounds and nice pieces of art that I would never have done before.

I know this is the longest post here. I'm sorry if it sounds all gooey, but it is all true. Your love and kindness shows through your blog and I know I am not the only one that feels like I know you, draws from your inspiration and is a far better artist for it.

Happy New Year!

You are so inspirational, even with all your trials. How is Ben doing?

I've chosen the word 'Open' for my word this year. I want to be open to possibilities, open to new ideas, open doors.

I love to read your blog every day, thanks.

Kim you are wonderful. I wish I had the camera and accessories. I am interested in photography. I took a hundred thousand photos of my seven kids and living areas in home and yard. My dad had his own dark room to process his photos. I am so proud to have known my dad while he was alive. What a grand man he was. I wish you everything good this new year. I and my adopted little dog (I have had her going on 4 years now) will also spend time relaxing on our couch, this new year's eve and day. sincerely, mary

Beautiful texture, Kim. Right now we have had a foot of snow, it is miserably cold---but absolutely beautiful. This morning, I took my camera for a walk, and we captured thick frost on everything. Your latest texture would work well with many of those photos. Thanks again.

Thank you for your generosity, your inspiration and for the wonderful photos and posts on your blog. I had to stop my Photoshop play when my DH was diagnosed with cancer in October. Your posts were bright spots in the almost 2 months he was in the hospital and I dutifully downloaded all the amazing Friday Freebies textures. He came home 2 weeks ago today. While things are still up in the air, at least he is home getting stronger. I have a lot of catching up to do since I have made only 2 small pieces this whole time.

Thank you for your personal notes, too. I am grateful for finding you!

May you have a prosperous, healthy and inspired 2011.

Wow that´s amazing Kim and generous of you, I love Love LOve LOVe LOVE your work, your classes, your freebies, your............everything. I do love playing with my PSE6 and looking forward to take the Skinny Mini e-Course again, now with my new MacBook :) since I could not finish the one I took in December because of a laptop crises LOL. I think that using texture on a layout or a photo is giving the work so much more depth and it´s so much fun to be able to make a brand new photo look like a gorgeous old photo.
Thank you for all your friday freebies - I really love them and use them when ever I can. I also want to thank you big time for this opportunity to MAYBE get a FREE ART TO TEXTURE e-Course - just the short of Course I´v wanted to take and to have it with you would be the BEST.
Happy New Year and I really hope this year will be good for you and your´s.
Hugs and xxx

Happy New Year everyone!
Thank you for sharing everyone! Wanted to share my fav quote and my One Word for 2011 since I missed the post. I'm having some post issues so hope this doesn't repeat itself! lol
"Creativity allowing yourself to make mistakes… Art is knowing which ones to keep."
"Life is the Art of drawing without an eraser and it's your canvas… throw all the paint you can on it."

My One Word for 2011 is "Embrace". I made a canvas wall hanging which now sites above my desk to remind me each day to Embrace the Everyday!

Discovered you quite by accident when viewing someone's photo on Flickr that used one of your textures. Took your mini course and learned alot. Thanks for the inspiration...I'm trying to take your advice regarding "baby steps" as I seem to get overwhelmed by all the "want to do's, have to do's, etc" and then sit in a state of "unable to do anything" Best wishes to you, Ben and the rest of your family for 2011. I have been inspired by you.

Thank you for the gorgeous texture and inspiration, I posted about my word on the last post but here it is again "GIVE"
I feel a big shift in my artwork towards the end of 2010, I have gone from mixed media to photography and photoshop and who knows what I will learn in 2011 but I know it will be a lot and I am looking forward to it.

I am so glad I found your blog. Still too new to really appreciate all that I am seeing but having so much fun learning new things and looking forward to the course later to help me learn to use the software that has been on the computer forever! Challenges, challenges ...that is what the new year will bring to me. My word is believe, which is a common word, I know. But, I have the faith that if I just believe and keep working my goals that everything will be fine.

I appreciate you and your work!
