You are so right. I am always full of excuses. So many things I would love to learn to do. I'm not sure why it takes me so long to jump in. Fear of failure perhaps? I will work on that. And I will drink more water right along with you. We could all use a good cleansing.
Thanks so much for another wonderful texture. :)
THANK YOU for sharing! Beautiful....as always!
Thank you..it's good to start...I have to start having more confidence in my photography..sweet texture..
Wow, did that hit home. It is what I have been thinking about and telling myself all week. I think you must have a link to my brain because you seem to have the words to say that I have been trying to find. Thank you Kim, you are an inspiration, not only as an artist but as a woman. Pat
Thanks for those kinds words and along with the free texture.... I think I have been hiding from myself for too long!!
Thank you for this wonderful texture, it looks great! Your words are true, quite often we only have ourselves holding us up don't we? Merry Christmas.
WOW! Did I ever need that pep talk this morning. Thanks Kim, and for the gorgeous texture too. I love, love, love Julia Cameron's books - The Artist Way being my favorite. Now I'm off to a good start . . . Have a super weekend! ♥
Thanks for another great texture and a thought-provoking post, Kim. I've been choosing a word for each year for several years now, and I've already picked one for 2011. It's FINISH. Just the opposite of START it seems, but once I reflected on it, not so much. I've started a lot of things in the last three or four years that are unfinished; big scrapbook projects, The Test Kitchen (I belong, but rarely make it over there), online courses . . . For some of these intimidation, not being sure of what I can do, has kept me from finishing, so START isn't really off the mark after all. After all, one needs to START in order to FINISH!!!
You are a JEWEL! sincerely, mary
you are a JEWEL!
Beautiful - both in thought and texture - thank you!
I had a friend tell me (in regards to having an art-making day at the studio) that "sometimes you just need to show up"....every time I just show up, get my materials together and place my hands in the middle of it all I gain momentum. I couldn't agree more that just STARTING is the best thing we can do for the cultivation of our dreams.
This is the year of sending in proposals and articles....I am committed to a date and subject matter....I am trying to step out of my own way! ;)
Happy New Year (new water quenched year) to you, Kim!
Lara
It's the only way! Thanks for the reminder!
You are an encourager!
Great post and inspiration Kim, and yes, I will just start :)
oops, forgot........ thank you for the beautiful texture :)
Thank you Kim.
I agree with you Kim! Put one foot in front of the other, start down the path, and before you know it you will end up someplace amazing. I love, love, love the artist's way. I think I need to re-read it...
You have the best posts!! Goooooo Me!!
Thank U very much for this post - just what I needed today! :-)
#startdaily - got it!
Start is more powerful than we think. My list is long but it also includes, keep going...
Thanks for the texture.
Warmly,
Karla
very well written......like they say........the first step is the hardest.......then after that its easy.......but so many are scared to take that first step.
A GREAT word for 2011 or any year! Thanks for always being such an inspiration.
This post sounds like it was totally directed to me! It couldn't fit any better! Oh...in my mind I have reasons for not doing things when actually all those reasons are nothing but excuses!! I let fear take over ....mainly the fear of failure. 2011 definitely needs to be the year I START!!! Start facing those fears and not let them control me!! Thanks, Kim! I am going to START!!
Kim, you and your blog have been instrumental in helping me "START" my photography business this year. Thank you!!!
here is a link to a photo I recently edited using the "Start" texture. Thought you might like to see it.

Hey there, What a great KISS post - keep it simple - thanks & Happy Trails!
What if you don't know what you want to do? :(
Found this from Daily Brainstorm, great site, great texture. :)
I so agree with everything you said. I've come back to this and think i'd like to post it on my Facebook page and a photo group I have. I wish you well and hope everything went well yesterday with Ben. I've been taking care of large and small animals all my life and there is no feeling like the one where you don't know how things will turn out and your essentially powerless to change that.....hugs.
This is a powerful message! I put off a lot of things because I have no time, and I know that I waste a lot of time, that there is time when I could be doing something and I don't! I also have to remind myself that I don't have to have create that one masterpiece each time I pick up a brush. Reminding myself to play with paints and paper, and just do it. Kind of like stretching before working out!
I am not certain whether this is allows but I am considering
<a href=http://www.klischka.de/joomla/artikel/politik/925-urheberrecht-justizministerin-plant-web-warnschilder-fuer-raubkopierer>copyrightwatch abmahnun</a>, and thus I am living a link in my signature that has plenty usefull knowledge relevant to that issue.

Starting is what it's all about, certainly. I guess we all can come up with reasons not to begin, but we only discourage ourselves when we allow the negative reasons to hold us back.
Onward, all. :)) :))
And, Kim, thank you for these lovely textures you so kindly share with us.
The title: Start Where You Stand. The gist of it: speaking to someone who was giving all sorts of reasons why not to start---especially seemed to be thinking the conditions of life, right then, just weren't right for what should be done. The author ran through all the 'reasons', finishing with, "start where you stand."
