Happiest Friday sweet friends!
How was your week? I hope fabulous.
I wanted to pop in and say hello... thank you all for the amazing response to my 'silence' posting. Wow, I so love that I am not alone. I honestly don't have a lot of 'real-life' friends who understand my silence and solitude. So it's wonderful to know that there are others out there who embrace the silence.
Today I had an email from a beautiful reader, who is going through an incredibly difficult time. I want to dedicate this post to her.
I too know how difficult life can be. And sometimes it's very hard to get out from under the doom and sadness. Believe, me, I know! In fact, I spent almost 2 years of my life, living under sadness, fear and worry. They were my rulers! All of the worry, concern, sadness....accomplished nothing. The storm roared on. If I could go back, I'm not sure how I would have handled it. Maybe no differently. But in time, eventually, sooner or later, the storm did pass. We made it to the other side.

Looking back, I give thanks for the storm. It lead me to this life. It lead me to photography and to all of you.
The one thing I hope to do differently, when the next storm arises..... Is to stop and try to find something to give thanks for, each and every day. I'm learning this beautiful lesson from Ann Voskamp's book, One Thousand Gifts. Thank you Ann and thank you God. It's easy to have a grateful heart when life is good. It's much more difficult to do when you are in the midst of a storm. 'sigh'

Your comments today made me think of a sampler my gran had in her house in Scotland many years ago. It must have resonated with me and my sisters as we still often quote it and none of us has seen this sampler for over 50 years.
"It is easy to go on smiling
When life goes by like a song,
But the man worthwhile is the man who can smile
When everything goes dead wrong."
"Everyone has a siren song. Something fluid, beautiful, all yours."
We all just need to remember to sing it to ourselves when we need it, i think.
have a wonderful weekend.
Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling. - Margaret Lee Runbeck
"I never stop to wonder why I'm not like other people. The mystery to me is why more people aren't like me."
~~Florynce Kennedy
After many years of living in turmoil I met my current husband who taught me to live in the moment.
A most valuable lesson. I now meditate when things start to "swirl" and it grounds me. I also read
Eckhart Tolle's book, The Power of Now. I read it and re-read it whenever I need to get back on track.
Thanks you once again for another great lesson. Not all lessons are found in Photoshop. lol
Have a fabulous day.
Well I'm no stranger to silence.. nor turmoil in the past.. I grew up in a home filled with turmoil and conflict and like you,.. fear was ever present .. during those years silence was not a friend but a threat.. 'a calm before the storm'.. Thankfully now I find the reverse... and happily escape to my quiet world.
No great words of wisdom for you today.. but something a colleague told me when I was quite young. He didn't explain the meaning.. but it has stuck with me for 30 years... 'When You're By Yourself.. You're On Your Own'.
I guess it means what we need it to mean a the time..
Have a great weekend.. ciao xxxx Julie
It makes me remember that I am important to others too, and to consider that a blessing.
Hugs!
