Next weeks theme ....Tuesday, April 22nd.
I can't wait to see what you share.
Have you heard of Wabi Sabi?
I know some of you have.... in fact a few lovelies mentioned it in the comments below last week's for the love of posting.
I stumbled on Wabi-Sabi a few months back.....bopping around pinterest....This lead me down a never ending road of wabi-sabi inspiration.
Wabi-Sabi encompasses everything I/many of us LOVE.... in decor....accessories.....life..... it's perfectly imperfect..... and Oh my.... how I LOVE everything about it.....
So.....What is wabi-sabi?
According to wikipedia
Wabi-sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.'
Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes.
Found HERE on pinterest....
Wabi-sabi is the marriage of the Japanese wabi, meaning humble, and sabi, which connotes beauty in the natural progression of time. Together, the phrase invites us to set aside our pursuit of perfection and learn to appreciate the simple, unaffected beauty of things as they are. To create a true wabi-sabi environment, one must slowly strip away excess and learn to be satisfied living in the moment.
OH YES.... indeed..... Wabi-Sabi suits me so.....
Wabi Sabi is the Japanese philosophy that looks at beauty as something imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. It is more than just how something looks, it is also how it makes you feel... It is often asymmetric or irregular and has a simple and modest honesty to it.
Tell me.... does the concept of wabi-sabi speak to you too?
This lovely dried rose from my stash........seemed just right for today's 'perfectly imperfect' theme.
You may notice...it's similar to last week's TT image....this time... more light..... than dark...
Today's Wabi-Sabi Recipe - Both Photos
Processed in LR.
I applied an auto tone, and added a little extra boost of contrast.
I bumped up the clarity to +10 and reduced the saturation and vibrance each to -24. Using the adjusment brush I added a little extra clarity to the rose.... to bring out the lovely details.
I also added a hint of magenta... using the tone curve.
then....Into Photoshop to add a touch of texture
a layer of Waterfront 18 at soft light blend mode, 78% opacity...masking it off the bottle and rose. Next, I added a curves adjustment layer to deepen the color in the rose...just a tad.
Finally the type.........That was that.... : )
Here's a peek at waterfront 18....
p.s. That's what I love about textures too..... so 'perfectly imperfect'......
Texture Lovin' Listers the download link for Waterfront 18 and a special Waterfront 18 magic eDition.... is coming your way..... later today. Watch your email.
